Nervous about having to pass the TASPOL fitness & psychometric testing?

I get it, we’re not all super athletes, and, psychometric testing can be pretty confronting!

However, you do need to be able to pass the TASPOL fitness test. To make that happen you’ll need a specific training program, not a fancy app, or a generic one size fits all program.

As a Tasmania Police applicant you’ll also need to pass Psychometric Testing as part of the recruitment process. I’m sure that’s no surprised, but – what’s involved in this step in the process?

The test can be broken into three sections:

  1. Cognitive reasoning
  2. Personality questionnaire
  3. Comprehension assessment

This can be a stressful step in the recruitment process for many police applicants, but, don’t worry, this is a step in the journey you can prepare for.

Let’s take a look at how we can help you with this part of your application.

How we can help with this stage of the process

I think it’s fair to say we can help police applicants achieve their dream of becoming a police officer. After all, for the last 17 years more than 6,000 applicants have taken our training, and, more than 90% of them are now police officers! How’s that for a success rate?!

Our founder, Russell Kempster, spent 14 years as a police officer in Victoria, with 4 years of that time as an instructor at the police academy. To say helping police applicants is our passion would be an understatement!

Our training is tailored specifically to meet the requirements of your police application. You can expect very detailed and comprehensive training, delivered online, via video tutorial lessons and custom software applications.

Access to the training is unlimited. You can take lessons at your own pace, when and where it suits you, and you can take the lessons, and use the applications, as many times as you like.

We’re here to help keep you moving should you have any technical support questions. We also offer a paid premium coaching support option should you want to receive personalised advice and guidance, over and above the online training, during your application journey.

When you take our online training you’ll also be invited to join our community of police applicants, from around the country, working towards the same goal – achieving their dream of becoming a police officer.

Let’s take a closer look at the training to help you with this stage of your Tasmania Police application.

Here's What We're Going To Cover In This Training

Let’s take a look at the individual components that make up the training for this step in your application.

Fitness Testing

The fitness testing involves separate components:

  1. Beep test
  2. Grip strength
  3. Push ups
  4. Illinois Agility Test

Our fitness programs are very comprehensive! You’ll have access to detailed programs you can download and follow. There is a library of instructional videos to watch so you know exactly how to complete each session of the program.

It’s important to mention that our program is designed specifically for the police fitness test. It is not a generic weight loss challenge or a 6-week gym program, instead, there is a very conscious focus on developing the right technique for each element of the police fitness test.

We’ll help you design a personalised fitness program involving each element, or just those you need that little extra help with.

Cognitive Reasoning Tests

The cognitive reasoning tests involves separate components:

  1. Verbal reasoning – problem solving questions involving words
  2. Numerical reasoning – problem solving questions involving numbers
  3. Abstract reasoning – problem solving questions involving images, shapes and patterns

In this part of our training you’ll have access to comprehensive tutorial videos that will teach you how to approach all three types of reasoning questions.

You’ll learn the formulas and step by step procedures needed to find the correct answers. You’ll also have access to our custom software practice tests where you can take an unlimited amount of practice tests where the questions are selected randomly from our database and where each practice tests provides a report with detailed explanations about your results.

Cognify Mini-Games Test

Cognify is a series of short problem solving games designed to test applicant’s ability to learn quickly and to use reasoning skills to find solutions to problems that may be numbers, words, or visually based. It can be a stressful test because most applicants will be unfamiliar with this type of testing, and so the pressure is on to learn and adjust quickly in order to solve as many problems as possible in this very fast moving test.

After searching high and low for good quality Cognify preparation material without success we decide the only thing to do was to create our own. You’ll have full access to this course!

Personality Questionnaire

Psychometric testing forms part of the TASPOL application process. I’m sure you understand that Tasmania Police needs to do such an assessment, however, it doesn’t make the process any less stressful.

In this part of the training you’ll have access to resources to help you better understand psychometric testing, sample questions to get clear about how the questionnaires are worded and links to free online practice quizzes.

Comprehension Assessment

In this part of the suitability training you’ll have unlimited access to more comprehensive video tutorial lessons and practice tests with randomised questions, reports to show your results and explain the answers.

Articles to read, with comprehension based questions to answer, and English corrections based questions are also included in the practice tests. This training will put you in the right frame of mind, and build your confidence, leading up to your official suitability assessment.

Illinois Agility Test

The Illinois Agility Test is often the individual component of applicant fitness testing that is failed more than any other component. Whilst the test seems fairly straight forward, it does require a specific set of fitness attributes. The right approach, and the right technique for negotiating the course is essential to achieving a competitive time.

In this course we’ll take you through a training program, with instructional videos, designed specifically for the Illinois Agility Test, that covers each of the elements that you need to address to shave seconds off your time.

Personality Questionnaire

The personality questionnaires asses your interests, preferences and feelings on specific topics and issues.

The personality questionnaire is often referred to as psychometric testing, which can be thought of as a personality survey.

It’s essentially a personality profiling method. This is not a test that requires any learned or researched knowledge, however, it is an assessment that you can prepare for by accessing our specific resources to get your head around the types of questions you’ll find in the assessment.

The test questions feel more like statements that you are asked to agree with, or disagree with. As the test progresses, your responses start to form a picture of your personality traits, your perspective on issues, and your motivations and goals.

Topics Covered

  • Information about psychological testing
  • Research material
  • Sample test questions
  • Free quiz resources links

  • Identifying key points
  • Pinning method
  • Comprehension testing

Frequently asked questions...

That’s entirely your choice! You could:

  1. Do nothing and allow the monthly payments of $99 to commence (for as many months as you like)
  2. Prepay a further period of 3, 6 or 12 months [additional discounts ($50/$100/$200) on top of these discounts is applied for existing PMT members], or
  3. You can submit the cancel membership form any time before (at least 24 hours) the monthly payments are due to commence. Example: you could prepay for 6 months and submit the cancellation form after one month if you like. You will still have full access until the end of your prepaid period before the membership would expire automatically.  Note: We will send you plenty of reminders when your prepaid period is ending.

Yep, just select the one-month pricing option, then submit the cancel membership form at least 24 hours before the next payment is due and you’re done.

As a member, you’ll have access to everything, the cost is determined by how long you stay on as a member, not by the courses you access.

We have courses that are specifically tailored on a state by state basis. As a member you’ll get access to all the training courses for all the states/territories, so regardless of which state you are applying for we’ve got you covered!

No. However, you can cancel it at any time.

When you cancel your membership you will continue to have full access until the end of the paid period.

Good question! It really comes down to your application time frame and how much help you’d like. If you’re early in the application process we suggest considering the 6 or 12-month pricing option. If you’re already well into the journey, the one or 3-month pricing option might be more suitable.

We do not offer refunds, so please be sure the program is right for you before making a commitment. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us!

We’ll do everything in our power to help and support you to succeed. The membership is a self-paced program, if you need personalised private coaching with Russ, or you’d like your work to be individually critiqued on a one-off basis, there are paid options available.

Not necessarily. When you’re on the monthly payments, they’re processed every 30 days. The actual date is shown on your previous payment receipt.

Nope, just click the ‘Cancel Membership’ button at least 24 hours before your next payment and you’re done.

In life? Nope, however, Russ has been passionately helping police applicants for more than 17 years. Over 6,000 applicants have come through our program, 90% of them are now police officers. In the unlikely event you take our course and don’t pass that stage of the application, we will give you free access to that course again for 30 days when you reapply.
