The Recruit Assessment Validation Centre (RAVC) gateway tests applicants suitability through a number of individual assessments.
It can be a stressful part of the process for applicants, but, don’t worry you can prepare for each of the assessments to help you make a good impression and achieve a competitive score.
So what’s involved in the RAVC gateway?
The assessment can involve:
- A group task assessment (team based activity)
- An individual role playing assessment (scenarios)
- Selection panel interview, and may also involve
- A writing task, and
- An observation task
This can be a stressful stage of the recruitment process for many police applicants, but, don’t worry, this is a gateway we can help you with.

Group & Individual Assessments
In this part of the training you’ll have access to video tutorial lessons where you’ll learn about the details of these tasks, and discover the dos and don’ts for each. I’ll also share some very detailed guidance about dealing with the individual role playing (scenarios) based on my time as a police academy instructor where I taught these exact skills to recruits during their formal academy training.
Selection Panel Interview
No other stage of the Police application fires me up as much as the selection panel interview. I’m determined to make sure you shine in your panel so we can maximise your score and get you an offer for the Police Academy.
Here’s what we’re going to work on in this training.
In this course, created specifically to help you ace your selection panel interview, we’re going to cover everything you need to know to be confident and ready to present the best ‘you’.
We’ll discuss the interview structure, format, and everything you need to understand before the day arrives. I’ll share the exactly what information you’ll need to remember for interview day and what info you won’t.
I’ll make sure you’re clear on how your interview will be scored so we can prepare our content to maximise it. I will teach you my 4 step framework that helped over 6000 applicants deliver the right answers the right way!
You’ll learn how to answer scenario questions using our framework to show you’re well suited for a police role, and, I’ll share more than 50 videos, recorded live from practice interviews, with specific Q&A examples to help generate ideas, from your life experiences, to come up your own great responses.
Writing Task
AFP applicants attending the RAVC may also be required to complete a writing task. In this part of our training I’ll take you through a course specifically to address this part of the assessment. You’ll have access to comprehensive video tutorial lessons with detailed example writing tasks to make sure you’re clear about how to structure your response article should you need to take the writing test.
Observation Task
Applicants may also be required to take an observation test. I’ll explain in detail what you can expect here. You’ll also have access to a course, with video tutorial lessons, to help you understand what you need to be looking out for and how to structure your responses to the observation task questions.

Assessment Validation
We’ll help you understand what to expect at this gateway to ease your mind.
The RAVC tests can be broken into five assessments. Applicants may be required to participate in some or all of these assessments. The assessments can be done in person or online (AFP will advise you).

Selection Panel Interview
You wouldn’t be the first applicant who was nervous about fronting up to a selection panel interview, but, don’t worry, by the end of this course you’ll be better prepared, have a clearer mind and be more confident than you thought you ever could be.

That’s entirely your choice! You could:
- Do nothing and allow the monthly payments of $99 to commence (for as many months as you like)
