I was blown away by how detailed the course was. Not having studied for a very long time, this course was exactly what I needed to pass the AFP police exam! Thanks, Russ, your teaching style is spot on and your passion is obvious.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We are currently updating our course and resources to reflect the new 2025 AFP Exam. Whilst some content is already available – the course is not yet complete.
It’s perfectly normal to be a little anxious about the exam! Maybe you haven’t studied for a long time? For some, it may have been a very long time! Maybe you’re hopeless at maths or essay writing.
I completely get it, but, don’t stress, I’m going to walk you through every aspect of the AFP Entrance Exam so you know what to expect and how to tackle each section of the exam to make sure you achieve the best score you can to get your AFP application off to a good start!
It would be a mistake to simply do a heap of practice exams and think you’re prepared! You need a carefully structured program to ensure you can not just pass, but, get the best possible score.
In this online training we’re going to set out your personalised study plan. I’ll teach you our very successful exam taking strategy so you have a deliberate game plan for exam day. It’s your preparation and specific game plan that will help you deal with the nerves of the real exam. If you don’t prepare properly, the nerves will destroy your ability to remain composed and think clearly.
In this course, every section of the exam is addressed with comprehensive video tutorial lessons to cover every exam question type. You’ll have access to unlimited practice exams for every component of the exam.
Our practice exams match the question type, the number of questions and the time limits of the official exam to ensure your practice is as realistic as possible.
The questions are randomly selected from our database so you’ll get plenty of variety. Each practice exam produces a report with the questions you were asked, your answers, your score, whether you reached our pass mark or not, as well as detailed explanations about the correct answers for each question.
We’re constantly tracking your progress. Our system creates, and automatically updates, your priority list so that at any given time you’ll know which topics need the most attention. This is how we can help keep you focused on the right things, at the right time, to get you to the pass marks and beyond.
You’ll have unlimited access to the course so you can work at your own pace, in your own time, anywhere you have internet access.
Let’s explore the course in more detail.
We’re going to set out your personalised study plan. I’ll teach you our very successful exam taking strategy so you have a deliberate game plan for exam day.
In this course, every section of the Australian Federal Police Exam is addressed with comprehensive video tutorial lessons to cover every exam question type.
You’ll have access to unlimited practice exams for each of the components.
To get you off to the right start we’ll first take you through the official exam in detail so that you understand exactly what it is that you’re in for.
Then, we’ll discuss our process for setting out a personalised study plan to make sure you’re getting the most benefit from the time and effort you put in.
I’ll teach you our very deliberate exam taking strategy and show you our step by step system for getting the highest possible score. You’ll learn how to manage the time effectively, identify your danger questions, and discover our secret ninja technique that helps you answer every question before you run out of time!
We also discuss how to manage the range of emotions that come with preparing for such an important and significant test.
It’s important to be careful and methodical if you’re going to do this properly. Once you’re clear about what’s involved in the entrance exam, it’s time to create your priority list using a very deliberate process.
Let’s outline the steps.
Step 1: You’ll take a full practice exam, which includes each component. The number of questions, the type of questions, pass marks, and the time limits will all match the offical exam.
We do this to help us find your starting point. Just like a doctor can’t prescribe treatment without first giving you the ‘once over’, we don’t want you to just make things up as you go along. We do a full practice exam first to help us assess your strengths and weaknesses, only then can we prescribe the best personalised treatment, or in this case, your preparation plan!
Our system will automatically create your priority list. It’s a list based on the results of your first full test. The weakest topics are identified and placed at the top of the list which is always visible in the practice exams section. As you work your way through the practice exams over time, the priority list constantly updates to reflect the most current topics that need your focus.
Step 2: Now that we’ve found your starting point you can enrol in the courses that will help you in the areas that need the most work. There are individual courses to address every aspect of the exam, whether it’s numeracy, reasoning, or writing tasks that you struggle with the most, the video tutorial lessons in each specific course will teach you how to answer the questions, help you take your skills to the next level, and help you build your scores and confidence!
Step 3: Rinse and Repeat! Our first objective is to help you reach the pass marks across every section. Keep in mind this is only the beginning! The pass marks are only the minimum requirements to pass the test. Under the pressure in the real exam we need a buffer zone, and a big one at that!
Not mention that to finish your application with a great final applicant score, we need to get off to a good start with a great exam score!
We are not interested in just passing, the goal is achieve the best possible entrance exam score you are capable of!
The personality questionnaires asses your interests, preferences and feelings on specific topics and issues.
The personality questionnaire is often referred to as psychometric testing, which can be thought of as a personality survey.
It’s essentially a personality profiling method. This is not a test that requires any learned or researched knowledge, however, it is an assessment that you can prepare for by accessing our specific resources to get your head around the types of questions you’ll find in the assessment.
The test questions feel more like statements that you are asked to agree with, or disagree with. As the test progresses, your responses start to form a picture of your personality traits, your perspective on issues, and your motivations and goals.
An example deductive reasoning question might be where you’re trying to schedule a meeting with colleagues who each have exisiting commitments:
In this case, deductive reasoning helps you find the day that logically fits everyone’s schedule based on the given information. This reasoning is valid because it logically follows from each person’s availability. Now don’t get too excited, it’s not that easy. In your AFP entrance exam, the deductive reasoning questions are based on examples where you’re working with calendars, people, resources and specific time commitments, but, it’s certainly more challenging than the example provide here – this is example is to give you a better understanding of deductive reasoning questions you’ll have to deal with in the exam.
Don’t stress though, we’re going to show you exactly what types of questions to prepare for, and, we’ll teach you (in our video tutorial lessons) a very effective, and time efficient method of flushing out the right answers every time. You’ll also have access to plenty of practice exams where the questions are randomly selected from our database.
The Australian Federal Police Entrance Exam Inductive Reasoning section involves identifying patterns from specific observations, and making a general prediction about what might come next.
For example, let’s say you see a sequence of shapes:
Here, inductive reasoning leads you to the most likely conclusion about what shape comes next, based on the observed pattern.
Inductive reasoning might be an unfamiliar term if you’re applying for the AFP, however, you may be familiar with the term abstract reasoning. Abstract reasoning and inductive reasoning can be thought of as the same thing, in that, questions ask you to assess visually presented patterns and determine one of two things:
Sound scary? Again, don’t stress, we’ll explain the AFP’s Inductive Reasoning test in detail, we’ll show you plenty of specific examples of the same question types, and we’ll teach you how to answer them in our video tutorial series.
The Australian Federal Police Entrance Exam Numerical Calculation section tests an applicant’s ability to perform a series of calculations, ranging from simple to complex, involving the correct use of the order of operations principle and correct rounding method.
The components contained within the exam questions can include:
As the numerical calculation test progresses, the complexity of questions increases. There may be anywhere from 3 to 6 ‘elements’ in each question.
An example question will comprise of two parts, the initial order of operation part, followed by a percentage calculation part.
Example
12 x 6 + ( √ 81 – 6) x 2 -8 =
The test will present two similar style questions to the example above, then ask the applicant to determine a percentage relationship between the two answers.
Confused? Don’t worry, we’ll teach you exactly what to do so you can deal with this part of the AFP Exam with confidence. Once you’ve learned the process and you understand the rules you’ll be able to apply that knowledge through our practice exams.
Our practice exams have plenty of random questions so you can test yourself against realistic practice questions. Don’t forget, our Australian Federal Police Entrance Exam Course also includes our video tutorial lessons that teach you how to answer the questions!

Investing time, effort, and a few hundred dollars might be necessary if you’re really serious about becoming a police officer. The entrance exam, for many applicants, is a challenging part of what is a very competitive application process.
To get help with your preparation you could easily invest hundreds of dollars working with a tutor or doing an in-person program through a university. Our AFP Entrance Exam Course is different. You’ll have unlimited access to training that has been developed specifically for Australian Federal Police applicants, based precisely on the new Talent Central format exam.
Investing in this training will significantly increase your chances of passing the exam with a competitive score, which is ultimately going to contribute to the outcome we want – a successful AFP application!
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are currently updating our course and resources to reflect the new 2024 AFP Exam
If you’d like help with 1 stage of your application, the 1 Month or 3 Months prepay option might be the best fit for you. However, if you’re early in your journey and would like help with multiple testing stages, the 6 or 12 month prepay options are significantly discounted.
That’s entirely your choice! You could:
Yep, just select the one-month pricing option, then submit the cancel membership form at least 24 hours before the next payment is due and you’re done.
As a member, you’ll have access to everything, the cost is determined by how long you stay on as a member, not by the courses you access.
We have courses that are specifically tailored on a state by state basis. As a member you’ll get access to all the training courses for all the states/territories, so regardless of which state you are applying for we’ve got you covered!
No. However, you can cancel it at any time.
When you cancel your membership you will continue to have full access until the end of the paid period.
Good question! It really comes down to your application time frame and how much help you’d like. If you’re early in the application process we suggest considering the 6 or 12-month pricing option. If you’re already well into the journey, the one or 3-month pricing option might be more suitable.
We do not offer refunds, so please be sure the program is right for you before making a commitment. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us!
We’ll do everything in our power to help and support you to succeed. The membership is a self-paced program, if you need personalised private coaching with Russ, or you’d like your work to be individually critiqued on a one-off basis, there are paid options available.
Not necessarily. When you’re on the monthly payments, they’re processed every 30 days. The actual date is shown on your previous payment receipt.
In life? Nope, however, Russ has been passionately helping police applicants for more than 17 years. Over 6,000 applicants have come through our program, 90% of them are now police officers. In the unlikely event you take our course and don’t pass that stage of the application, we will give you free access to that course again for 30 days when you reapply.
